The shelter on the project plot was one of the first things to be built: just a supported roof over a deck – somewhere to gather, and a means to collect rainwater. We always intended to fill in some walls on a patchwork basis as time and funds allowed, and this week we made a start – using a combination of pallets, timber/roofing offcuts, and a pack of featherboarding.
We extended the bench, put a back on it and built one wall against the rain (assuming it will rain again at some point…)
Another job we want to do before winter is to chain the water collection tanks together and build shading to prevent algae growing in them. Once that’s done, we can extend the weather protection around the corner above that which should keep the worst of the weather out, making the shelter usable all year round.

Thanks to Janet and Nell for today.
