Nettles & Woodchips

Today’s working party continued digging nettles out of the ‘Food Forest‘ area, and we then mulched with cardboard and woodchips. Although the weather was a bit grey and chilly, all the digging and barrowing warmed us up nicely – and we made sure to have a tea break (and a fudgey brownie!) whilst perched on the log seating.

It feels like today’s efforts made a massive visual difference – suddenly its much easier to see the Food Forest taking shape, and to decide where we might want to put paths and seating, as well as – of course – the other food plant layers. Some of these plants we have (fruit bushes, for example), and others we will add as and when we have donations of plants, seeds or cuttings. We’ll also keep adding mulch as and when we can until the whole area is covered.

Thanks to Karen, Derek and Janet for today.
