The work on the row of waterlogged plots is due to begin in a couple of weeks.

We will be building:

• a communal shelter (or, to begin with, it’ll be more like a pergola, but we hope to add to it with found materials over time, fill in the walls and make it a little less exposed!);
• communal rainwater collection tanks;
• raised growing spaces (so people can try out growing in the allotment community on a smaller scale);
• a wetland wildflower meadow and woodland to support biodiversity, pollinators and natural pest control;
• a food forest (which will be an area that any plot holder can forage from, based on climate resilient permanent planting that mimics nature and minimises soil disturbance).
